Donations & Gifts Policy

Purpose and Commitment

The Happy Faces Children’s Charity, hereafter referred to as the Charity is committed to ensuring that any donation or gift made to the Charity or one of its representatives has originated from a known source, and that the transaction of receiving any gift or donation is transparent, legal and recorded. The Charity recognises and accepts that as a charity it will frequently be asked to accept donations, and on occasions invited to accept gifts.

Donations

Donations or gifts may be in the form of money, credit, equipment and or other goods, they can be work “in kind”, property or belongings.

Notice

The Executive Committee must be made aware of all single donations above the value of £500.00 or gifts to the value of £500.00 made to the Charity or one of its representatives.

Acceptance

The Charity will accept donations and gifts under the condition that the donation or gift offered:

  • Is not illegally obtained or thought to be from illegal activities.
  • Is not promoting political, religious, sectarian or other activities not in keeping with the Charity.
  • Does not impact adversely on the reputation or activities of the Charity or its beneficiaries.

Discretion may be exercised by the Trustees or the Executive Committee to accept or decline donations or gifts that are offered on the terms of displaying logos, names or statements made by or associated with the provider.

If the provider wishes to remain anonymous at least one Trustee or member of the Executive Committee must vouch for the provider and the suitability of the donation or gift.

Where there are concerns or questions in regard to the ownership, validity or suitability of a donation or gift the Trustees or Executive Committee may refuse to accept the donation or gift in question.

Records

All donations above the value of £500.00 or gifts to the value of £500.00 are to be recorded in the minutes of the Executive Committee.

Conduct

If, after a suitable investigation, a representative of the Charity or volunteer is found to have behaved improperly or in an illegal fashion they will be dismissed from the Charity and may be subject to police action.
